Adelphi University Annual Golf Classic a Success

Garden City, NY
November 21, 2007

Adelphi University's 19th Annual Golf Classic on September 24, 2007 raised $154,000 for student athletic scholarships. More than 220 alumni and friends teed off at Cherry Valley Club in Garden City for the festive day-long event and to honor Gerald F. Mahoney '65, retired Chairman and CEO of Mail-Well, Inc. with the 2007 President's Award for Outstanding Achievement and Friendship.
John P. Finnerty M.S. '77 of W.J.M. Associates, Inc., and Stephen M. Wirth '70 of New York Sports and Physical Therapy Institute, served as tournament co-chairs for the sold-out event, which included a day of golf, cocktails, and an awards dinner. They were joined by a committee of distinguished business and community leaders.
A live auction raised $6,000 and featured four luxury prizes and packages, including foursomes at The Bear's Club in southern Florida and Sebonack Golf Club in Southampton, NY.
This year's Golf Classic sponsors included Damon G. Douglas Company, The Mahoney Family, Botto Mechanical Corporation, Allstate Insurance Company and Physician's Reciprocal Insurers, among others.
