Anonymous Benefactor to Give Adelphi University $100,000 if 1,000 New Alumni Donors are Aquired

Garden City, NY
October 31, 2007

An anonymous benefactor has challenged Adelphi University to acquire 1,000 new alumni donors, pledging $100,000 to the 2007-2008 Annual Fund if the goal is achieved. The challenge, which runs through Sept. 30, 2008, will provide the University with critical funds for student financial aid, academic programs, faculty development, and campus enhancements. Every gift at every level enhances the quality of the Adelphi experience for students.
"In addition to the financial benefit, this challenge is an incentive for more alumni to actively participate in the growth of their alma mater and remain a part of the University family for many years to come," said Adelphi University President Robert A. Scott. "Alumni increasingly seek to connect their experiences at Adelphi with those of today’s students."
Alumni participation in the Annual Fund has grown nearly 620 percent since 1997. Recent alumni generosity has enabled the University to provide institutional aid to 81 social work students, and to acquire a new bone-density machine for the Human Performance Science Laboratory, teaching spectrophotometers for the chemistry lab, and digital recording stations for the music lab.
