Professional Experience

Professional Experience

I am trained as a linguist and speech scientist, and teach courses in Phonetics, Linguistics, Anatomy and Physiology, Speech Science, and Research methods.  My research has focused on speech aerodynamics, respiratory control, and laryngeal function in adults and children; typical and atypical development of speech coordination and articulation; and aging effects in speech production. Along with colleagues in Berlin and Dresden, Germany, I have developed novel experimental and measurement protocols for studying speech production. With colleagues in Thessaloniki, Greece and at Montclair State University I have, respectively, contributed to work on consonant and vowel production in children with cochlear implants, and explorations of speech production and perception in children with speech sound disorders and childhood apraxia of speech.
