Personal StatementAs a teacher and a clinician, I see myself as a facilitator, helping my students and clients to develop more effective means of understanding and communicating. The process for both involves my providing them with information and resources, helping them develop problem-solving skills, and encouraging them to independently pursue other means through which they can learn and grow.
Teaching Specializations/InterestsMy teaching interests include speech and hearing sciences, psychoacoustics, assistive listening devices, and rehabilitative audiology.
Research InterestsResearch interests include (1)pediatric audiology, particularly in the use of amplification and sensory aids to enhance speech and oral language development in young children with hearing loss, and (2) the effect of noise on speech recognition performance and hearing.
Grants/Sponsored Research2004 Adelphi University Presidential Faculty Development Award (with Y.C. Serpanos).
