Personal Statement

I teach courses in genetics, cell biology, and developmental biology, and mentor undergraduates and master's students in research projects in my lab. I love introducing students to the excitement of biology, from classic experiments to the latest cutting-edge results.

Research Interests

Current support:
National Science Foundation grant, 2005-2008, $350,000, to use genetic approaches to analyze the function of the AUXIN-RESISTANT4 gene in membrane trafficking in the plant Arabidopsis thaliana.

Past support:
National Science Foundation grant, $200,000,1996-1999, to characterize the auxin-resistant6 mutant of Arabidopsis thaliana.

2003: Fulbright Senior Scholar award, 5 months: to support sabbatical research in the Institute for Plant Sciences, Gif-sur-Yvette, France.

National Science Foundation grant,$225,000, 2000-2004, to identify and characterize the AUXIN-RESISTANT6 gene.

National Science Foundation grant, $19,000, 2002-2005, to implement a project-based laboratory for undergraduate genetics.
