Heart Walk / Go Red
2012 Go Red
On February 4, 2012, members of the Adelphi community joined the national Go Red for Women initiative, wearing jeans and red, and donating over $1,000 in support of the American Heart Association. Over the past decade, Adelphi's support by students and staff for AHA's February Go Red campaign, as well as the University's participation in the fall Heart Walk raised over $25,000. In addition, programs by the Health and Wellness Committee have raised awareness of the effects of heart disease and stroke.

Heart Walk 2010 at Jones Beach
A note of thanks to the Adelphi campus community for your support, which helped
make the University's participation in this year's American Heart
Association’s Heart Walk on September 26 a great success.
Over $1,100 was raised from the Wear Jeans/Red Day on Friday, September 24. Around campus, staff and
students expressed their support. One of the Nursing professors encouraged her
students to participate by wearing red, stating, "I usually ask my classes
participate in dressing. We have fun, and it ties in greatly with our
Cardiovascular Drugs Part 2 Lecture this Friday." Thanks to all who walked, donated or acted as a "Heart Ambassador" around campus.
At the Jones Beach venue, Adelphi was represented by over 100
participants, and additional donations were made at the site. Among the
walkers were several student organizations—Adelphi Cheerleaders, Dance Team,
Circle K International and, AKA Sorority, Beta Alpha Psi, and SNAP (Student Nurses Acting for Progress), as well as individual students who
joined in the spirit. Four of Adelphi's newest members, international students
from China, participated and had an amazing experience. Students and staff
brought parents, nephews, spouses, co-workers, friends and families to
participate in the 3-mile walk. One student brought the entire family,
including her two brothers!
