Derner Institute Psychological Services

Community Psychological Services

For more than 50 years, The Gordon F. Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies has provided community psychological services that meet the specialized mental health care needs of children, adolescents, and adults.

As part of its continuing commitment to provide first rate and affordable services to the community, both the Center for Psychological Services and the Postgraduate Psychotherapy Center offer psychological evaluation plus individual, family, and group therapy to treat a wide range of issues.

The Center for Psychological Services has clinics located at the Garden City campus and Manhattan Center. It is staffed by therapists studying for a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. The therapists are in full time residence and work under faculty supervision.

The Postgraduate Psychotherapy Center is staffed by doctoral level mental health professionals, including psychologists, psychiatrists, and social workers affiliated with Postgraduate Programs in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy. Patients receive treatment in private offices throughout Long Island and the New York Metropolitan area.

The Social Training Center is a new program offering therapeutic and support services to high school and college-aged individuals with high functioning autism or Asperger’s Syndrome to help them and their families negotiate life adjustments such as social, academic and vocational challenges.

Different fees apply at each Center.
