Associate's, Bachelor's, and Master's Degree Candidates
Students attending Commencement are required to wear a cap, gown, tassel, and the hood of their discipline. Students receiving an Associate’s Degree are not required to wear a hood.
Caps and gowns for Associate’s, Bachelor’s and Master’s degree candidates will be available for purchase from the Barnes and Noble Bookstore at the Garden City campus from May 1 through May 18. Gowns must be purchased by May 18; no gowns will be sold at the Nassau Coliseum.
The Commencement Apparel package includes 1 Cap, 1 Gown, and 1 Hood. This year, Adelphi University will provide all its graduating students with a black 2008 Tassel at no additional charge!
Pricing
The Commencement Apparel package (with free tassel) pricing is as follows (tax not included):
- Associate’s package (No Hood): $32.98
- Bachelor’s package: $61.96
- Master’s package: $68.96
Brown and gold souvenir tassels will be available for $6.98
Garden City Students
Students attending the Garden City campus should pick up their gowns at the bookstore.
Manhattan, Hauppauge and Hudson Valley Students
Students attending the Manhattan Center, Hauppauge Center or Hudson Valley Center have three options. They may:
- Pre-order gowns to be picked up at Nassau Coliseum on May 19
- Order and request shipping for an additional charge of $6.95
- Pick up from the bookstore at the Garden City campus

Doctoral Candidates
Doctoral Candidates must contact the bookstore no later than April 8th to order academic attire. Most doctoral gowns will be scheduled for delivery approximately one to two weeks before the doctoral ceremony on May 18.Pricing
The cost of renting doctoral regalia is $161.93 including tax. Please note that this price includes the rental of the gown and hood, and the purchase of the tam (cap) and tassel. A refundable deposit of $300 in the form of a check or credit card is required at the time the order is placed.
Doctoral candidates may also purchase their gowns. Please contact the bookstore for pricing. A non-refundable deposit of $600 is required at the time the order is placed.

Representatives will be at Nassau Coliseum on May 19 for students picking up pre-ordered gowns and for faculty who have not yet picked up their gowns. They will also offer assistance with last minute hood and size changes. No gowns will be sold at the Nassau Coliseum.
