For our Fifth Outdoor Sculpture Biennial, we have selected 14 sculptures ranging in style and concept. From formalist, primary structures to works dealing with social and political issues, the 2008 installation is an exciting, thought-provoking mix of works in a variety of sculptural media. Distinguished sculptors from numerous locations around the United States are represented. An international exhibition, sculptors from England, Greece, India, Romania, Sweden, Taiwan, and Turkey are also presenting their work. This 2008 Biennial Exhibition is an impressive outdoor presentation of contemporary sculpture.
Thank you to artist An Ti Liu, our Fine Arts Professional Technician, to Adjunct Professor Puneeta Mittal, and to Eliz Alahverdian, our University Art Collection Curator. Their tireless assistance and expertise made this installation possible.
A great deal of gratitude is extended to the University Facilities Staff: Directors Jim Kosloski, Bob Shipley, and Bob Conaghan; fabrication specialists Sammy Suarez, Henry Acosta, Paul Campbell, Frank Calca; and landscape installation engineers Jimmy Campbell, Ron Soto, Bruce Brine, Vincent Carr, and Frank Simeone. A special thanks is also extended for the help provided by John Gozelski, Ugur Kunst, Michael Gaughran, Steven Ceraso, and Dominic Sparano.
We all appreciate the creative work of these 14 sculptors. During the next two years, this exhibition will touch the lives of hundreds of people in the Adelphi University community and thousands of visitors from the metropolitan New York area and beyond.
