I remember driving home on Sunday evenings with my family from my Irish grandparents' house. I would count the white lights of the approaching cars, and as I turned to see them pass I saw the red rear lights of the same cars. In my seven-year-old mind the white represented the good angels, and the red the devils. I accessed that time that all people inhabit both good and evil. The cars taught me that.
In and old Indian wisdom tale and elder Cherokee explans to his grandchildren about life. He says a fight between two wolves is going on inside everyone. One wolf is evil, filled with fear, anger, envy, greed and arrogance, false pride and resentment; the other one is good, it is joy, peace, humility, kindness, generosity, and truth. One child asked which wolf would win, and the grandfather replied "the one you feed."
So recognize the dark angel in yourself as you pass by, salute, shake its hand, and step around.
